Our Story: Building Against the "Throwaway" Culture

The Honest Plank was born out of a frustration with "fast furniture." As woodworking specialists, we looked at the market and saw bedframes made from compressed dust and glue, wrapped in plastic veneers, designed to last only a few years before ending up in a landfill.

We knew there was a better way. We believed that if you are going to bring something into your home—especially the piece of furniture you spend a third of your life on—it should be real, it should be solid, and it should be honest.

That is how The Honest Plank began. We set out to combine traditional British joinery techniques with modern, sustainable design. We wanted to create bedframes that don’t squeak, don’t wobble, and don’t need to be replaced.
